The objective

Custom cakes are made to order, so the site has to do more than show photos: customers need to browse a menu, order ready items, and request a custom cake. The bakery needs to quote, take deposits and manage it all without a developer.

02

What it does

  1. 01

    A menu that sells

Categories, search, product variants and multi-image carousels, with a cart that carries through to checkout.

  2. 02

    Custom cakes, step by step

A cake wizard collects the occasion, size, flavours and design. The bakery replies with a quote; the customer can reply on a private thread and pay a deposit online.

  3. 03

    Payments in two places

Stripe for online checkout, and Square for in-person sales through a point-of-sale screen in the admin, including deposits and balances.

  4. 04

An admin the bakery can run

Orders, products, categories, a drag-to-sort gallery with a trash bin, customer messages, promotions and every piece of homepage copy are editable without touching code.

03 · Interactive

The site, in its own mood

A browser composition built from the project's own photography, logo and homepage copy. Use the tabs to move between pages.

How it's built

Next.js with TypeScript, Prisma and a database-backed content model, so homepage headlines, about copy and images are rows the owner edits in the admin.

Custom orders run as threads: each quote gets a customer token, so the customer can reply and pay from a private link without an account. Orders track deposits and balances across Stripe and Square.

Email goes out through Resend; images are managed through Cloudinary; the admin is protected by NextAuth.

Worth knowing

  • No live link is shown: the bakery's public website is still its previous site, not this build.
  • Testimonials seeded in the project are left out, because they cannot be verified as real customer quotes.
